FoodShouldTasteGood Buffalo Tortilla Chips – U Parve

FoodShouldTasteGood Buffalo tortilla chips live up to their name. Always on the hunt for healthy snacks especially parve ones let me to discover these yummy tortilla chips on my grocer’s shelf.

After picking them off the shelf I did a quick scan and saw that Buffalo (just like Buffalo flavored wings) was composed of cayenne pepper, vinegar and Garlic. A further glance at the packaging reviled beyond being parve, they are also “certified Gluten-Free” (great for people with a Gluten intolerance or allergy). So far so good, I then flipped to the back to read the ingredients and nutrition facts. There are 5 basic ingredients which are Stone Ground Corn, Cayenne Pepper Sauce (cayenne peepers, vinegar, salt, garlic) High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Corn Bran and Cane Sugar and contain no Trans Fat. Of course, as with any chip the overall fat content of a mere 10 chips was at 9% of the daily recommended, but also contains 3g of fiber and a bit of vitamin A, calcium and iron.

So into the shopping cart they went for a taste test at home. My wife quickly spotted them and always wanting spicy chips quickly opened the bag. We both sampled a tortilla chip. The chips are crisp with an excellent crunch. The taste is good as well. Nothing outstanding, but the chips do have a pleasant taste with just a bit of heat that will after a few chips creep up on you. Overall we enjoyed them and I’ll give them a 3.5 out 5 on our scale. Perhaps next week I’ll try one of their other flavors.
