Shmeer Grilling Sauce Honey Brown Lager

I was given a full bottle of Shmeer Grilling Sauce as a sample from the company ( about a month ago and now that BBQ season is here I decided to give it a try.

So the other day I went out and purchased a nice roast (cut here is called London Grill). I prepared the roast by inserting some garlic cloves and then covered the entire roast with the Shmeer Sauce and let it marinate for just over 2 hours.

I then placed the roast on a spit/rotisserie and placed in on the BBQ (see picture) with the appropriate rear burner only on a low temp (275-300) for just over 2 hours. Beneath the roast I placed a foil pan which contained a bottle of regular beer (Molson Canadian to be specific) just to keep things moist in the BBQ while the roast cooked.

With the residual marinade (grilling sauce) from the pan the roast was originally marinating in, I periodically based the roast.

The outcome was to quote my wife “the best roast you’ve ever cooked”, my kids also went nuts for it. They all loved the flavor which by marinating it, wasn’t just on the outside of the roast. It managed to penetrate deep into the meat, while at the same time not overwhelming the taste of the beef.

I tried a bit of the Honey Brown Lager grilling sauce on it’s own and it was simply spectacular.

So now I know this product will become a staple in our home and I can’t wait to try some of the other flavors.

Which include:

  • Original Lager
  • Jerk Porter
  • Sweet & Sour Stout
  • Sweet Thai Chili Ale
  • Dijon Barbecue Draught
  • Blackened Cajun Bock

As early April Shmeer was only available in the Greater Toronto area and at a few select stores in the USA (not listed on their website). I was told they were planning on setting up a mail order system for the summer grilling season so check their website for more deails.

All I can say is if you find it buy it and enjoy. We give Shmeer Gilling Sauce Honey Brown Lager a 5 out of 5.
